1-Year Midwifery Internship in Cambodia
"According to the 2011 State of the World's
Midwifery Report by the UNFPA, approximately 350,000 women
die while pregnant or giving
birth every year"” almost 1,000 a day. Of these women, 99 percent die in developing
countries. An estimated 8 million more suffer serious illnesses and lifelong
disabilities as a result of complications at the time of childbirth. Every year
up to 2 million newborns die within the
first 24 hours of life.
In addition, there are 2.6 million stillbirths of which approximately 45
percent occur during labor and birth."
Hello, my name is
Adaline Carlile, and I've accepted God's call to go out and help turn those
statistics around by becoming a midwife! I have recently been accepted into a
1-Year Clinical Internship program, sponsored by Midwife International, where I will be spending one year in a third
world country learning how to be a NARM - licensed midwife. Midwife International
sends student-midwives all over the globe, including Kenya, Cameroon, India,
Guatemala, and many others. However, I have been blessed with the opportunity
to study in Cambodia! But I can't do it without YOUR help!
My goal is to raise $10,000, which covers the bulk of my tuition. With your contribution, whether it be one dollar or one hundred, you will be helping me achieve my goals as an international midwife, but also, you will help provide money for the clinic I'll be stationed at, which will further provide support for women and babies who's lives really depend on proper health care! (To learn more about Midwife International, watch this video!)
I truly believe in the power of prayer, so if you are unable to donate, your thoughts and prayers are GREATLY appreciated! Furthermore, sharing this with family and friends would be great! Facebook, Twitter, whatever social networking site tickles your fancy, are also great tools to spread the word! Remember, this is so much more than funding for school, this is an investment in the lives of women and babies who are in dire need of proper health care!
I am so thankful for all that you guys are doing, and I'll keep you in my prayers. THANK YOU AGAIN!!! God bless!
