Help Farah and the Hidalgo family

Donation protected
We never imagined this is the nightmare we would be dealing with during Covid. Our dear two year old niece Farah became suddenly and inexplicably ill this past week. My sister and brother in law brought her to Yale New Haven where her condition deteriorated and she was diagnosed with Stevens Johnson syndrome, a very rare and serious disorder of the skin and mucous membranes. The syndrome has caused painful swelling and blisters all over her tiny body. Due to her specialized needs she was transferred to the pediatric ICU of Mass General Hospital yesterday where she has been intubated. The blisters are so large and painful that the treatment is the same you would have for severe burns.

My brother and sister in law have booked a neighboring hotel to be by her bedside as they live in Connecticut. The amount of time they will need to spend in Boston and take off work is unknown at this time but at minimum two weeks. Any additional time off her parents will have to take is unknown as is the cost of medical treatment, additional therapies etc.

Farah’s parents are a nurse who has been working through Covid and a teacher - heroes already in today’s environment. This fundraiser is not something they would have ever asked for but we feel strongly that it is the least we can do to alleviate financial concerns so they can channel their energies on their child.
