Accessibility at Greenslate Community Farm

Donation protected
Greenslate Community Farm is at the heart of our community, delivering vital therapeutic activities and services for individuals with SEND, mental health and delivering educational activities for toddlers through to adulthood in everything from agriculture, food growing, animal care, woodworking and conservation.
Not only that, but we remain a freely accessible farm for anyone in our community to visit, enjoying the therapeutic benefits of our natural environment, visit our animals and be inspired and educated about food, farming, healthy lifestyles and nature.

After a hard few years during Covid in which we continued to deliver our activities throught, to now during the cost of living crisis, our reserves are struggling to keep up with demand for our services, just as we are needed now more than ever!
We have had to forego much needed renovations in order to fund vital day to day delivery of activities such as therapeutic horticulture and animal therapy, as the needs and number of our service users grow.

But now we face a problem. Most of our animal enclosures are in desperate need of repair, and we face a challenge of ensuring the high level welfare of our much loved animals and accessibility of the enclosures to continue to deliver therapeutic activities.
With your generous donation, we can renovate our animal enclosures to not only maximise the animals welfare by giving them the best care we can offer, but full accessibility to all our service users, meaning everyone is able to access our animal therapy sessions and no one is left out.

With your donation, we hope to rebuild our small animal area, giving our rabbits and guinea pigs room to roam whist giving access to people with mobility restrictions space to take part in the cleaning and routine care that they so love to take part in.
We hope to provide our growing group of rescued ducks with a pond to give them a hygienic and natural environment to play and thrive.
We also hope to build a large aviary to future proof our ex caged rescued hens to keep them safe from the annual avian influenza lockdowns and give them space to scratch, play and free range, even during lockdown periods.
With your help, not only will we be able to ensure the welfare of all our animals is catered for, but that the therapeutic benefits of our activities can continue to be delivered to the most vulnerable people in our community.
