In this time of incredible disconnect and as education falters, we provide one-one virtual Academic Coaching for kids like Izzy. As we wait for our IRS tax exempt status we need funds to support him and many others. Let Izzy tell you in his words the value of this service:
"My name is Israel Garcia and I am a junior in a high school that focuses on addiction recovery. I am really looking forward to this coaching experience. My father wasn't around most of my childhood so I looked to other men in my life who happened to be bad role models. Perhaps this coaching can help me get a good idea and understanding of what it means to be a man. Academically speaking, I am a fast learner yet I have a short attention span. This coaching opportunity I hope will give me the motivation and follow through to excel for the rest of High school and beyond. Thanks for this great opportunity."
Izzy says that if he wasn't afraid of failure or worried about money, he'd be an artist or a basketball coach. He loves math and writing, and "would like to learn more about space and how time is different out in the universe opposed to on earth."
When schools closed in March Izzy fell through the cracks and had virtually no instruction or support. Starting again now in an online environment, Izzy and so many underserved students like him need to be motivated, inspired and engaged. This is what Academics For Life provides, with skilled and compassionate adults who understand the struggles and challenges of kids ages 13-19. Please help us help Izzy and others through this extraordinarily difficult time so we do not lose a generation of beautiful minds.
