Cody's Kicking Cancer!

Donation protected

Our sweet Cody has been fighting Stage 3 lymphoma since January 13, 2014, the day our world turned upside down.  He has done SO WELL and has been in remission since the 3rd week!  He has gotten 13 of 15 treatments and has been blessed with very few side effects other than losing a lot of hair.

He is 8 years old and is a goldendoodle that we got as a puppy.  He has brought us SO much joy and so many wonderful friends!  He took all his classes and got his CGC designation:)  This is a picture of Cody with his daddy.

And one with his mommy at one of his chemo treatments.  He is so brave and strong and has become the love of the office girls:)

Three weeks ago he started having some viral stomach problems and wasn't eating much and acted like his moth hurt.  I checked inside and he had a mass on his upper jaw covering where a tooth would be.  Squeezed in between chemo treatments, he was put under and a biopsy was done.

This monday our world was rocked again with the call that it was cancerous.  A different kind from the lymphoma.  Something called extramedullary plasmacytoma.  All I could think was "how could he get a new cancer while taking all that chemo"??  On thursday June 12th he had the remainder of the mass removed and a CT scan done to see if it had spread to his bones.  By the grace of God, when we picked him up we learned that it was NOT on the bone!  That was huge:)

So he has fought cancer again and has all the signs of coming out a winner!!  A puppy just shouldn't have to go through all this.  We have always supported doodles in need through making our crafts for fundraisers or hosting romps to benefit IDOG or making memory books for doodles that have passed away.  It's hard being on the side of needing support.

Cody's chemo protocol ran us about $3,000 and we were blessed with some donations through the Doodle Messenger program.  Two months after Cody was diagnosed, I lost my job and then a month later our other doodle, Bucketz, had emergency durgery for an ear hematoma which was another $1,500.  Boy, when it rains, it sure does pour!!  But we have so much to be thankful for and our boy is in remission and that's all that matters:)

In the past week, our bills for the new cancer (biopsies, CT scan, 2 rounds of anesthesia, and meds) have totalled another $2,100.  Our doodle friends encouraged us to set the fund up it anyone would like to make a donation.  We appreciate each and every dollar and cannot wait to be back on our feet to "pay it forward"!
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts:)

We already have made reminder cards for people to check their dogs monthly for swollen lymph nodes in an effort to catch it early.  We still have some to mail out and will gladly send one to anyone that would like it!

From Jen, John, Cody and Bucketz ~ we thank you for caring about our dear puppy and our family!
