Celeste's Recovery

Donation protected
Hi my name is Steven and I am writing this for my my niece and her family,

Celeste was at the lake with her family for Memorial Day. They were enjoying their holiday on the beach and Celeste started complaining of trouble breathing. She left with her Papa to go to urgent care. She had been complaining of a sore throat.. We thought she would need some steroids and rest and be good to go in a day or so. We got a call from Papa saying that they have given her two breathing treatments and that they weren’t working. She had begun to get worse so was then transported by ambulance to St.Clair Hospital. There at St. Clair hospital, she was given another breathing treatment and then tried a fourth and still no improvement. St.Clair sent her by ambulance with lights and sirens to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. She was admitted and told she had a virus and needed airway management. We were told and hoped that she’d be better in a few days just waiting for the virus to clear. After that everything moved extremely fast and Celeste really had to fight. She was declining rapidly every evening and the staff had on blinders because she was given the diagnosis of Paraflu and would look no further to find out why she was declining. They ignored her parents' cries for help. Her parents asked if the rash that she developed was related to something else and that she would get a rash like that when she had Strep. She was complaining of left side chest pain. Her father has a history of recurrent pneumonia and she has already had it twice in her life. After her mother had words with the house doctor and was told that they wanted to see if she got worse before they would do a chest xray she reluctantly did it. The Doctor said that if it would make her mother happy they would do it. Her mom was right her whole left lung was white in the xray. The xray also showed the potential for fluid around the lung as well. An ultrasound was performed almost 24 hours later and showed she had in fact fluid on her lung. Due to the amount of fluid, it was decided that medication wouldn’t be able to treat it and surgery would have to have been performed to drain it. In the midst of trying to get her approval for surgery, one of the doctors did not agree with the idea of surgery but one of the surgical team members fought to get her the surgery. He told them that he felt we had been ignored and that by this time Celeste was a very sick girl. The surgery was performed and turned out to be a success. They drained 500ml or a half a liter of fluid from her lung. She was admitted in the PICU for extra precaution and thank god she was. Within 24 She was sedated because she needed a lot of oxygen, a catheter was put in, multiple IV’s antibiotics and she was put on a ventilator. Celeste is still fighting with a long recovery ahead of her. We are asking for help at this time to help ease the burden of medical bills, lost wages, and future appointments. Celeste will be coming home at some point in her journey with a picc line and will need home health. Please if you cannot donate send prayers and Join Team Celeste on Facebook and follow her journey and miracle recovery. Thank you everyone for any and all help that you can provide this family.
