Without Community there is no Liberation. - Audre Lorde
COVID-19 has hit us hard, forced us to pause, asked us to question and inspired us to pivot to continue to empower Black Women Artists.
Black Women Artists are Businesswomen. They represent 21% of all women-owned businesses and make up the largest segment of women-owned businesses. On average, it costs a Black Woman at the minimum $500 to successfully run her business per month.
On March 23, TILA Studios launched a COVID-19 recurring monthly fund beginning at $1,000 to support black women artists nationwide.
PURPOSE:
To initiate a national fund for black women artists to help the black artists community thrive during a global crisis
To alleviate financial burden that black women artists are experiencing during COVID-19
To build community and open a line of communications between art administrators and artists
THE FUND SUPPORTS BACK WOMEN ARTISTS:
Experienced a stalled gig or paid creative job opportunity
Lost of Income from day job being temporarily closed
Stipend for On-Going Art Project with a Specific Purpose and Direction
HOW TO JOIN OR DONATE TO THE FUND:
We hope that our community partners, funders, individual donors and arts patrons donate to our fund.
We plan to grow our monthly fund to $10,000 month over month in order to distribute $50,000 by August 2020 to support 80+ Black Women.

About TILA:
Featured in New York Times, Huffington Post, NPR and Forbes, TILA Studios has been the recipient of the Arts Innovation Luminary Award, Best of Atlanta 2017 and 2018 Awards. TILA Studios has redistributed over $150,000 amongst artists with a direct investment to their practice through our residencies, fellowships, and gallery sales. In 2019, TILA curated the first exhibition by women of color for the Mayor’s Office in City Hall and the first organization to produce a gallery for Summit 21, which we sold a record amount of artwork to collectors across the nation.
