Abigail tried to take her life last night by overdosing. Luckily we found her and she was brought to Moutainside Hospital. She's been transferred to Newark Beth Israel's Children's Psychiatric Unit and will be there for a week.
Our sweet baby took the pills and when we asked her why said "she hoped that she would never wake up".
Abigail has been battling her inner demons since she was in 3rd Grade. She has attempted suicide 6 times. Her heart is telling her that she is ugly, that she was born this way and that she can't be happy. She suffers in silence and tortures herself. She's been cutting her thighs to help the pain go away and she does'nt want to be a burden to anyone anymore.
This attempt has to be the last attempt. We as her parents know that we can not give Abigail the care she needs. It pains us but we have come to that hard reality or she will die.
Several specialist have said that Abigail needs a Therapeutic Boarding School. A 12 month program where she will be amongst other children like her and where she will learn to love herself and realize her purpose. That she belongs on this earth and that she shouldn't suffer anymore. She will also get the best academic support to help her fullfil her dreams of going to college.
That said, tuition for these schools are astronomical and upwards of $100,000 per year.
If you can find it in your heart to help Abigail, you will be helping us help her see that she can live in happiness and that she can get rid of the darkness.
