Abel Bayardo

Abel Bayardo is a spinal cord victim as of July 18, 2014.  He has come a long way in recovery over the past year but he is still a quadriplegic with only the use of his arms but not hands. It is very difficult for him to get around having to ride the bus and train everywhere.When we, (his kids), visit him we walk while he rides his powerchair or hang out in his cramped room. It would be very nice to have more mobility, to take him out where he needs to go especially in the winter (he hates the cold). And its also dangerous for him to travel during the winter months here in northern Utah when there's snow. He can get stuck in the snow or slide on the ice. His body also can't produce sufficient body heat so he has to put on A LOT of clothes. Even then he sometimes can't take it and his arms become so stiff he can't even drive his chair. The closest bus stop is 2 blocks from his care facility. This is why we would like to get a wheelchair accessible van for him that's specially modified for his powerchair in the rear. This would help him and us out a lot in his errands and for his enjoyment. He doesn't get to travel a lot ever since the accident and this would mean a lot to him, to be able to travel again, it would cheer him up big time. We want to raise money for a good down-payment.
