Last week 3 and 1/2 year old Abel woke up with a bad tummy ache. By the end of the day he had been transferred from the local ER to Upstate Galisano Children's Hospital (Syracuse, NY) due to finding a large mass on his Adrenal gland.
Abel's dad (Stephen), mom, & extended family have stayed by his side throughout the fearful period of the unknown & after a long week of tests/procedures Abel was diagnosed with Stage III Neuroblastoma, high risk.
Abel just completed his first 5 days of chemotherapy with the strength and courage of a little lion but will have a year of further chemo along with a follow-up surgery, to remove the tumor, still ahead of him.
This is a long road to recovery with all the emotional & financial tolls that it will entail. Some of Abel's treatment is covered by insurance but the family will face a number of unexpected expenses over the next year including co-payments, travel expenses for chemo every 2 weeks, and housing expenses.
Due to the co-parenting situation, both Abel's dad & mom need your support so they can continue to be by his side throughout this difficult time.
