Ethel the abandoned senior dog

Colchester k9 rescue is a small non profit rescue dedicated to supporting animals in need.

our dogs often come from pounds as unclaimed strays or abandoned pets.

Ethel was found dumped in a park and taken to the pound by the dog wardens. Being in a busy dog pound she was becoming distressed being a senior dog this isn’t a suitable environment for dog that is in their older years.

we took Ethel in our care after hearing her plea for a rescue space.

Ethel arrived and was suffering with kennel cough, she was take to our vets and treated with antibiotics, after examination by a vet Ethel was diagnosed with Cushing’s disease.

despite being on antibiotics Ethel isn’t recovering as we would expect her too. This is because of the Cushing’s disease.

untreated it effects the immune system and it’s response to infections, her body is otherwise strong. But she needs the important medication and blood tests to make her well again

We need to start treatment for Ethel unfortunately it’s a costly medication and bloods need doing to determine the dosage of medication she will require.

Ethel is still full of life despite her age and her health conditions, she enjoys going on the fields for a steady and slow wonder around sniffing everything in her environment.

she enjoys her food, and spending time with people she has grown familiar with. She also loves her teddy’s and likes to snuggle up with them for her old lady naps

we desperately need support to start Ethel’s treatment being a small rescue that relies on donations to support our dogs. This fundraiser is to support Ethel’s vet care costs to get her started with much needed treatment
