ABADA-Capoeira East Vancouver Batizado 2022

We are ABADA-Capoeira East Vancouver , a community organization that aims to preserve, develop, and share the art of capoeira with diverse individuals and communities. Over the last few years, we have been growing our community and are excited to hold our first ever batizado and troca de cordas ceremony this November 5th! This is an important capoeira tradition that officially welcomes new students to the capoeira community, and celebrates the achievements and progress of our more senior students.

Our guest of honour will be Mestra Marcia "Cigarra", a legendary teacher and pioneer for women in capoeira. Mestra Marcia was one of the first women to reach the rank of Mestra (Master) in ABADA-Capoeira. She is also the founder and artistic director for ABADA-Capoeira San Francisco. Prior to the batizado, Mestra Marcia will teach a series of master workshops for ABADA-Capoeira students from November 3-5. In addition, we will have a number of high-ranking capoeiristas from all over North America in attendance to help make the event a success.

All funds from this campaign will go towards our guests' travel costs and event supplies, and any excess funds will go towards future events or equipment for our students.
