Mollie and Sonny Spurlock have dedicated countless hours of their lives to serving students in their community. Through coaching, teaching, and mentoring, many have been greatly impacted by their positive influence and encouragement.
Mollie has the most loving heart. She is known to treat every student as her own child. Anyone that knows her also knows that she will protect her own and put family first. During her time as a teacher, she served as a "school mama" to many of her students.
Many know Mollie has been struggling with health issues lately. She was recently diagnosed with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. CJD is a very rare, rapidly progressive and fatal brain disorder. As of right now, there is no effective treatment or cure for CJD. It is important that we spend as much time with Mollie as possible, surrounding her with immense comfort, love, and prayers. She is incredibly blessed to have so many people that love her and care about her well being. Anyone who knows Mollie knows that she is an impactful and passionate person who continues to touch many lives.
In addition to Mollie's illness, she is not eligible for her disability insurance, life insurance, or critical illness insurance because this is a "pre-existing condition." Her sick leave has also been exhausted so she will no longer receive an income. Sonny has also retired to provide the full support that Mollie needs at this time. It is disheartening that the Spurlocks have served many years of their lives as educators and are unable to receive these benefits at the most critical time of their lives. This page has been set up to help relieve the Spurlocks of the medical expenses and financial burdens that they will face in this difficult time.
The Spurlocks appreciate everyone’s concerns and ask for continued prayers for Mollie, the family, and the medical team as they navigate this challenging time. Although this is a season filled with such hurt and confusion, they continue to trust in the Lord and remain faithful in His promise to offer comfort to those that seek Him.
