Donation protected
Hi,
My name is Beverley. I've set up this gofund me for Aaron and his family. To help with medical costs and other expenses that they will need along Aaron's terminal cancer journey.
Aaron is a 27 year old autistic man who brings love and worth to all those he meets and leaves a print in their hearts. with his infectious eyes, beautiful smile, and his cheeky humour he never disappoints.
Sadly Aaron is a warrior fighting his own battle of cancer again for the second time, Showing strength and courage of a true soldier.
Please take the time to read Aaron's cancer story below and share the page around to your family and friends. Appreciate any donation or share to help Aaron and his family going through this difficult time.

AARONS STORY:
Aaron was a much-wanted child, conceived via IVF, you could say he was a miracle baby. He was diagnosed at the age of 3 with Autism which changed his parents’ world but was much loved by them and his 2 younger brothers. Life for the family had it challenges but Aaron has such an infectious personality that always made life interesting.
Sadly, in June of 2021 the family would be rocked a third time by another challenge, Cancer! After many tests and investigations Aaron was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the age of 24. He was put onto a round of chemotherapy, which made him lethargic but he struggled through that course and was then put on a 6 week, daily scheduled Radiotherapy in Adelaide. It was hard being away from his familiar surroundings for this time but he coped with it all like a trouper, even when he started to develop burns from the treatment, his complaints remained at a minimum. He then had to wait to see if the treatment was effective, but sadly it has not worked on his cancer and it remained.
May 2022, Aaron was once again in for the fight of his life as he had to go into the Royal Adelaide Hospital for his cancer operation. It was a major operation that lasted over 10 hours. He had some of his bowel removed, bladder removed, rectum was removed and had to have his right abdominal muscle (half a six pack) altered to give him a pelvic floor. He had a suture line that ran from the bottom of his sternum to his pelvic bone and due to not having a bladder and bowel he now had a permanent colostomy bag. This in itself was life changing for anyone never the less for someone whom had autism and could not attend to many daily life skills himself prior. But true to Aaron’s character and determination a hospital recovery of 6 weeks did not challenge him as he was home within 2 surprising his doctors. Aaron was so excited to return home via ambulance to continue his recovery.
After recovery he returned to his normal routine and coped well with his changes. Life was going great till early in February 2023 when he had a life-threatening bowel blockage and he returned to RAH where we were told that they could not perform surgery to clear the blockage due to his previous surgery and colostomy. We had to wait for nature to take its course either to clear the blockage or not. OMG the sound of a fart and the sign of a small poo was such a godsend. During this time, he underwent further scans and you guessed it the Cancer had returned. It had gone into his pelvic lymph nodes and liver and spleen.
This meant a return to chemotherapy as well as immunotherapy in an attempt to shrink and halt progression not to cure. Every two weeks he would have treatment and come home afterwards feeling drained and nauseous. Over the two weeks he would also develop mouth ulcers and a sunburn type rash that would blister and cause pain. Again, he took it all in his stride. Following his operation due to removal of lymph nodes Aaron developed leg lymphoedema which also caused him pain and discomfort and began to impact how he walked. And over the next year he was in and out of hospital with infections either in his leg due to cellulitis or kidney infections.
This brings us to current day! June 2024, Aaron had been in pain for 2 months prior, especially at night and all the pain relief that was available to him at home was not maintaining his comfort. He was sent to RAH for a PET scan to check on his cancer status and was told that the cancer had now made its way into his bones.
This fighter is once again in hospital to try to get his pain under control. He will be undergoing further radiotherapy but only for palliative pain management, but he continues to listen to his music and enjoy as much as he can with the time he has left. All he wants to do is come home and collect spiders and have his firepit.
