Treatment for my husband-Eric Doku

Donation protected
My name is Rebecca Doku (nee Avotri). I work as a Clinical Audit & Quality Specialist within the NHS, and my husband of 15 years, Eric Doku, a Biomedical Scientist specialised in Virology has been working with the NHS for 20 years.

Eric was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) in January 2015. He has undergone 10 cycles of intensive chemotherapy. He was in remission, but the leukaemia relapsed in July 2017. After his last chemotherapy in June 2018, there is still residual disease.

His situation is now critical, and the clinical decision is not to give him any further chemotherapy (since that approach has been exhausted), while bone marrow transplant has been ruled out.

However, there is some hope for us in the form of alternative treatment in America.

We have contacted clinics in America where alternative treatment options are available that could be of help to save him, but it is estimated to cost in excess of £40,000.

These treatment options are not available on the NHS nor in the UK. As a result, the costs which are significantly high, have to be privately funded - this is where your help is urgently needed.

The treatment centre in the USA  have  advised that he will need to commence treatment within the next couple of weeks.

I am therefore humbly appealing to you all to help raise the above amount to enable my husband to undergo this treatment.

Thank you for your generous donation, very much appreciated and may God richly bless you
