Meet our strong little Lucy..
On October 27, 2019 The Polanco family received the most devastating news. Their baby girl Lucille, who is 10, was diagnosed with DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma), a type of tumor located in the middle of the brain stem that is inoperable and currently has no cure.
Lucy underwent her first surgery on October 29th. A shunt was placed and 2 incisions were made to alleviate the pressure from the fluid in her brain. Although there was some improvement, it didn’t make the impact everyone was hoping for. Lucy’s is currently undergoing radiation treatments. Treatments are 5 days a week and for the duration of 6 weeks.
Currently there are little options for treatment as this cancer has very little funding. Her parents are hoping to start clinical trial treatments after radiation which will not be covered under insurance and as you know will make an impact on their pockets. They will need all the help they can get. Any donations to the Polanco family, no matter the amount, is greatly appreciated as they navigate through the hardest time in their lives.
The Polanco family appreciate your phone calls, text, emails, messages, visits and most importantly your prayers. While we do not know what the future holds, we do know that this battle isn’t over and ask for your continued prayers, positive energy, love and support. Through it all, the family has maintained an incredibly positive attitude and is leaning heavily on their faith on God.
