Helping a friend in need!

Hello, my name is Vicky and I am fundraising for my best friend Rebecca! We’ve been friends since the beginning of secondary school and have always been there for each other in times of need. Rebecca is currently undergoing her second round of Cancer at the age of 25 and I want to do all I can to help make her life that little bit easier as her friend.

Rebecca’s story-

In 2016 Rebecca’s life changed drastically when she was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma at the young age of 20! She bravely went through Chemotherapy and various other medical assessments in order to overcome the awful C word. During the most testing period of her life so far, Rebecca’s fiancé proposed to her and they looked to the future together. In June 2017 Rebecca was given the all clear and hoped her life would get back to ‘normal’ and proceeded to open her own little beauty business! The business was doing well and Rebecca built her client base and was achieving her dreams one at a time. She was also preparing to become a wife in the future. In 2021 sadly, Rebecca received another Cancer diagnosis however this time it was type Ewings Sarcoma. This meant Rebecca has once again had to put her life and dreams on hold in order to fight this awful disease. Unfortunately she has had to stop her training for her beauty business and shut the doors on that part of her life for a while. As you can imagine, with it being the second time around, Rebecca is struggling to come to terms with a second diagnosis. Not only is she overcome with worry about her diagnosis, the fact she has to travel from home in York to Leeds most days for treatment is unbearable for her and the long overnight stays on her own. Not to mention covid being thrown into the mix.

As Rebecca’s friend, I’d like to do all I can to help her and thought a fundraiser would be a good place to start. It would give her some help with rebuilding her life when she gets the all clear and is ready to get back to her ‘normal’ and begin to follow her dreams again. Update

As many of you all know, Rebecca has spent the last year or so fighting her second form of Cancer- Ewings Sarcoma. Rebecca was at the point that it was nearly all gone but unfortunately there is a 1cm tumour in her chest which is very close to her heart which the hospital cannot treat with radiotherapy. This means that Rebecca has to undergo a clinical trial for more treatment in order to try and treat the tumour. However the hospital have advised Rebecca that there is a very small chance of the treatment working and therefore Rebecca is wanting to get married to her long term partner Kris before she undergoes another lot of gruelling treatment which may not even work. Rebecca’s wish it to marry Kris in a church with all her nearest and dearest around her.

In order to make the wedding happen at such short notice we are all pulling together to raise the money to help with the costs of the wedding. Any donations would be massively appreciated by Rebecca and her family and friends. Thank you all once again.
