Treatments to advance Shiatsu in Canada!

For those of you who don't know me well, my name is Lisa Dowling.  

I am holding a fundraiser to help subsidize my attendance at the European Shiatsu Congress in Kientalerhof, Switzerland. The Conference will be held from the 9-12 October 2014, and the cost for the conference is $478 conference attendance, $347 in food and accommodation, and $1012 flight. I am hoping to fundraise the majority of these costs in order to attend the conference. More information can be found in the links found at the bottom of this page.

$50 donation - 8 tickets into a draw for a FREE shiatsu or acupuncture treatment or gift certificate

These treatments can be used by the purchaser, or used as gifts for others.


I have been the president of the Shiatsu Society of Ontario, and headed the merger of three professional shiatsu associations in Ontario to become the Shiatsu Therapy Society. I am also a shiatsu instructor, practitioner, and own a wellness centre in Toronto.  As well as shiatsu, I practise acupuncture and movement therapy as well as having an expert knowledge of moxibustion therapy.  For the past two and a half years, I have been volunteering numerous hours per month to advocating for the advancement of  shiatsu therapy. Last year, I took a trip to London England, and met with the British School of Shiatsu to discuss the current state of shiatsu, and how shiatsu can benefit having an International voice.  Our profession has been wavering, with a lot of political challenges on Ontario and a lack of practitioners due to the closing of schools.  All of this has been done on my own time, at my own cost.

We have been building momentum in the past four years, and feel that the future of the profession must be created collectively through the sharing of ideas and network building initiatives. Attendance at this conference feels like an important next step in this process.
