Daxton's Medical Bills

Most of you are familiar with Dax's story, but for those that are unaware. In May of 2022, Kenzie and Peter found out that their child had severe aortic stenosis, severe mitral regurgitation, enlarged left atrium, and hypertrophic left ventricle. Getting this diagnosis turned into biweekly and weekly ultrasounds and appointments with fetal cardiologists.

In June 2022, Kenzie and Peter went to Boston, MA to undergo in-utero surgery to help save Dax's life. The procedure worked and Dax's heart was staying stable in utero and he stayed put until 39 weeks (what the doctors had wanted.)

On 9/26/22 Daxton Thomas Davidson was born and was immediately brought to the CVCC at Children's Minnesota. On his first day of life, Dax underwent a ballooning of the Aortic Valve catheter procedure, they ballooned his valve 7 times and unfortunately, that was not enough to help with his stenosis. Around 1 week of life, Dax underwent a 10-hour open heart Ross Konno surgery and came out on ECMO (basically bypass - a machine that works your heart and lungs.) Dax sat on ECMO for 2 weeks with an open chest. He successfully came off of ECMO and had his chest closed on October 21, 2022. Getting off ECMO was a huge success and the next steps were to get him breathing on his own and teach him how to feed/eat.

Dax continued to make forward steps and was extubated on November 10, 2022, and graduated to room air on December 4, 2022. Dax continued to live in the hospital and make progress (some steps forward, some steps back, but the net of the two were in the right direction).

On December 23, Dax underwent another procedure to receive a PEG tube - a lot of heart kiddos have feeding tubes to help get them out of the hospital faster. After the PEG tube surgery, Dax had a hiccup but ultimately was discharged on December 31, 2022.
Dax spent 3.5 weeks at home and was surrounded by love from family + his cousins.

On Dax's 4-month birthday, he very suddenly and unexpectedly passed away. In 4 months of life, Dax underwent more than most people go through in their entire life. He is missed deeply by his parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Kenzie and Peter endured a lot of medical expenses between traveling to Boston, MA to housing Dax in the hospital for 3 months. A lot of people have asked how they can help, we have set up this GoFundMe to help cover medical and funeral costs.

Thank you for cheering Dax, Kenzie and Peter on these last 8 months - we have all felt the love from your support.
