Family of 6 faces homelessness
"Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans."
John Lennon
No one knows how one ends up spiraling downward. No one can predict that one illness, one misstep, one small emergency can shape the path of a life. Ours was a series of events that fell apart recently. We have lived in our current home for 5 years. It is a place where our children have grown and flourished. We cared for our house like we owned it. We took pride in having friends and family over.
Our landlords for those 5 years have now sold the property. The new landlords gave us an ultimatum, $200 additional every month to the rent or move out in 2 months. Neither is in our already tight budget. We are forced to move.
A family of 6 - Moms' Debbie and Sandra and also 4 children are not easy to move. A large family is difficult enough, but we also have to consider multiple disabilities as well.
In this economy it is difficult to prepare for the unforseen. This has hit us especially hard. We do not have a savings to draw from. We do not have a cushion to fall on.
Asking one or two people for a big donation is not possible for us. What we are hoping instead is that lots of people know the power of an extra $10 or $20. We are not looking to put anyone else in the situation we are currently facing.
Our family is a loving one. Our children deserve a safe, stable home in which to live. We are just trying to provide that.
Thank you,
Sandra & Debbie
