Team Lauren
Lauren is a beautiful and vibrant 11 year old girl, who for the second time in her young life is having to battle cancer. She was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma 7 years ago, at the tender age of 4 years old. Lauren endured a difficult 2 year long battle and went into remission at the age of 6.
Just ahead of being able to announce that Lauren would have been in remission, the family received the devastating news that the cancer is back, on Lauren’s 11th birthday in October.
On November 11th Lauren had surgery that removed 50% of her tumour, but she now needs a minimum of 14 months of gruelling chemotherapy treatments in Calgary, AB. Her family of 6 will have to relocate to Calgary to continue with Lauren’s treatments and leave their hometown of Fort McMurray.
This move will require a huge expense that the family will need to pay up front and they need our community’s support. The stress of dealing with a sick child is unimaginable, let alone the financial stress that goes along with relocation. If our community could rally around this family and help relieve some of the financial burden; Lauren’s family can devote all of their time to supporting her during her the long battle ahead.
The Stemmann’s will have to move to Calgary to keep their family together, but Lauren’s father will have to continue to work in Fort McMurray to provide for the family. They will have to pay for their mortgage and bills here in fort McMurray along with rent and bills in Calgary. This family is in midst this medical crisis and will continue to be for a long time. Let’s help them focus all of their attention and thoughts on Lauren.
The family has already spent a huge amount of money travelling back and forth from Fort McMurray to Edmonton for surgery and treatments since Lauren’s second diagnosis. Any help is greatly appreciated and please share and spread the word. Lauren and her family need the community to come together. Let’s flood the Stemmann family with support and love. Lauren is an amazing kid, facing a huge battle that no one deserves to face. She is determined to beat this awful disease again, so let’s all stand beside her in her fight
