Dear Friends and Family,
On June 10th of this year I will be traveling to Nairobi, Kenya with my church for a week long mission trip to the Furaha Primary School.
Located in the slums of Nairobi, Furaha Primary School is a private school that caters to the less fortunate kids in Kenya. It has been an ongoing effort that my church has been supporting through the When I Grow Up foundation.
This trip is a partnership with When I Grow Up and South Valley Community Church (SVCC), and will include a team five other members from SVCC and other church.
I've been involved in the Youth Group at my church since 2012 and have been on two mission trips to Moore, Oklahoma in 2013 and 2014. This trip to Kenya is the next step in my walk with God, stretching and growing my trust and relationship with Jesus.
During this trip, I hope to build relationships with the kids and staff in Nairobi and to be stretched and grow in my faith. We'll be visiting the slums in Nairobi, sharing the Love of Christ, and encouraging the staff who run the programs at Furaha Primary School.
In order for this trip to be possible, I need your support. There are three main ways you can help. You can support me financially, in prayer and by sharing this letter with others. I need to raise $1,400 by May 20th in order to secure my spot for the trip. The total includes expenses for housing, food, and in country travel and I have already secured a plane ticket for the trip.
In addition, please keep me and the team in prayer. Below are some prayer points that I specifically would request:
• Safety of the team
• Discernment of what God wants me to learn from this trip
• For healthy relationships with the team and students at Furaha
• That I grow closer with the Kenyan people
• That I grow closer with God
• That I have a more intimate connection with the Holy Spirit from this trip
