If you want the whole story, here it goes:
I ran a very successful custom frame shop in Tacoma for 8 1/2 years, until the last year threw me into a tailspin.
I was in love with a man who I didn't realize was emotionally abusive for a year and a half, until one night he beat the hell out of me, causing 5 knee injuries and unimaginable mental anguish. I had surgery on my knee on june 21st, 2013.
The economic times were already difficult enough, but now I had very expensive medical and therapy bills, a difficult physical recovery, which will never be 100% again (no more marathons for me) and ongoing mental recovery, which you might understand only if you've been there. (here's where I put in a plug for DBT therapy!!! IT IS THE AWESOME!)
BTW, YES, he is out of my life.
I had to depend heavily on my employees to keep my business going, and I was in a very bleak state of depression. My business and personal life did not fare well.
I had to declare bankruptcy, and very luckily sell my business for a fraction of what it was worth, but I got a great opportunity to do something I've always wanted to do. I had nothing, so I might as well start over, in HAWAII!!
My plan is to live the artist's life here, and if I say I will do something you can BET ON IT.
The payments from the shop will pay my rent and food ( and that's ALL) for a while, but I really need to get a job in the meantime. I underestimated how far it is to town ( or the beach, or ANYWHERE!) I was planning on relying on my bicycle until I could figure out the car thing, but my knee simply cannot handle it yet (still hoping it will though.) Also, it is WET here!
I have a friend who can get me a good dependable island vehicle for around $2000.
I have used GoFundMe before, when I was trying to save my shop. My friends and colleagues around the world moved me to tears with all of your help.
I arrived here on the Big Island on June 3rd, with bright hopes and wide eyes. I have good friends around me and I feel at home. I just need one more little push to make my new start.
Will you please help me out? Even if just my facebook friends gave $5 each, I'd be there!
Besides, don't you wanna come visit me? I'll drive you all over da island!
Mahalo and much aloha
