Support Juli in her Cancer Battle!

In mid-April, my family discovered that my mother had a large tumor on her ovaries, possibly cancerous. It was starting to make her incredibly weak, and she went to a hospital in Galveston for three weeks. While there, they uncovered that aside from the tumor, she had Stage IV Colon Cancer. Colon cancer is said to be incurable, and it doesn't help that it's decided to move to her liver and lungs as well.

It got worse once we realized that the nodes on her liver were producing fluid at an alarming rate...and this fluid was filling her chest cavity consistently. By the time we got my mother to the ER, her right lung was compressed to almost nothing, and her left one was beginning to be shifted as well by the fluid. They did an emergency procedure to drain the fluid, which saved her life. The recovery was brutal, because the lungs have to reinflate...which is excruciatingly painful. So now, unfortunately, on top of the cancer, she has to drain this fluid daily to make sure that her lungs have enough room to do their job.

Cancer is one of the most unpredictable battles you can face, and we don't know from one day to the next what will happen. Some days, she seems okay. Not like she used to be, but more like the mother I know. Other days, she's not okay. And it hurts.

My dad has quit his job to take care of her, and he only has kept up his wedding business. (My father is a minister and works as a wedding officiant.) I am the only child, and I'm a full-time college student with a part/full-time job as well. As much as we're trying, making ends meet is very hard.
