Over Memorial Day weekend 2014 Sandy & I ended up in the emergency room at St Joseph Hospital in Bellingham, WA. Sandy had been having a bit of discomfort over the past few weeks. She did go to get it checked out back in April and blood work at that time indicated type 2 diabetes and she got the appropriate meds & supplements. However the discomfort continued.
On Saturday night 24 May 2014 we went to the emergency room as the pain had hit a new level of intensity. After some early indications that we may have a problem with the pancreas, a CT Scan showed that we have a much more serious problem. Sandy has colon cancer that has spread through the lymph nodes into the liver and lungs. Sandy's liver is riddled with cancer and her colon is 70% blocked by a large cancerous tumor and I actually don't know how much cancer is in the lungs but it was enough to create a nagging cough for Sandy.
We've heard several different opinons from various Dr's about our chances of winning this battle. The initial conversations indicated we were looking at weeks maybe a month or two. However our Oncologist has been great and is a bit more optimistic saying we have a chance at getting 2 to 4 years of life (based on averages of folks receiving the chemo cocktail Sandy will be receiving).
The purpose of this site is to raise funds so we can help Sandy beat her cancer altogether. We are taking a multi-pronged approach - medical treatment (chemotherapy), nutritional treatment to keep the body as strong as possible and we are handling the spiritual side as well.
At the moment we need $24,000.00 that we don't have to keep all three fronts moving forward. Any donations you are able to flow toward helping Sandy beat cancer is greatly appreciated. Sandy and Dan Pittsenbarger both thank you most sincerely.
