Hi. My name is Perri. Please help by donating/sharing. I'm 23 years old. In the middle of April 2014, I contracted MRSA from a person I work with. When I was 19, I was diagnosed with a chronic liver disease, Auto-Immune Hepatitus, and Cirrhosis. The medication I have to take suppresses my immune system. So I'm having a lot of trouble fighting this Staph infection.
I went to the ER because I thought I had a spider or tick bite on my right calf. But the culture they took said it was MRSA. They cut open the lump and drained it. I was given 10 days worth of antibiotics. A week later, I was in the ER again. The MRSA grew larger on my right calf and had spread onto my left leg on the shin. MRSA can also cause you to get sick, severe as pneumonia. I had serious chest congestion and my throat was so sore I couldn't talk or barely swallow. I had to have x-rays and breathing treatments done. I was prescribed an inhaler and antibiotics for the congestion and the MRSA. Unfortunately, it became severely worse.
By May 17, I could not stand or walk Went to my doctor on the 20th and was referred to a Infectious Disease Specialist who couldn't see me for another week. Ended up in the ER again on the 22nd. They decided the oral antibiotics weren't enough and started me on IV antibiotics. Then sent me home.
I now have multiple sores below my knees and on my feet.
Everyday since the 22nd I have to go to the hospital for the antibiotics to be administered. I will be doing this until it's completely healed, which will still be a couple weeks.
I'm starting this page on June 7, and I'm asking for your help. I have not been able to work since May 15th. I've only received bills for two of the hospital visits so far and it totals at almost $5000 already. It's only going to climb higher.
