A Very Brown Soiree 2018

2018 has been a very strange adventure! There's been stories of great success, loss, achievement & confusion all throughout. Take those feelings & amplify it many times over for communities of color across the country.  

In the city of Portland OR, especially, many of us must go out of our way to find comfort in space that have us feeling safe, seen & heard. Not only do we deal with the national news, but even strife with our own local politics, police fatalities & class injustices, among other things. It's imperative for us to have & relish in our own company so that we may heal from the constant barrage of our often very discouraging dystopian news cycle. 

The funds raised here will go to an evening where can pamper ourselves a bit - an effort of restoration. I'd like, if nothing else, for one night out of this crazy year, folks of color can gather privately to get dolled up, be merry & have an evening of no worry about cost or cover or how they're getting fed. The total cost is for rental prices as well as compensating the evening's personnel.

So, if you have it to give, I would encourage you to do so that we may have a night to celebrate ourselves WITH ourselves FOR ourselves, just because.
