A Tribute to the Life of 9-year-old, Miley Reyes

Miley Reyes was a firecracker, with the most beautiful smile in town. Her spark and joyful personality would light up any room that she was in. She just finished 3rd grade at Eastman Avenue Elementary school, where she was a part of the Pep Team. Her love for her friends, her family, her coaches, her teachers, and cheerleading was unbeatable. She was a hard-working student, a powerful dancer, and a young activist (she even marched in the LAUSD teacher strike with her coaches and teachers). Her short time on this Earth has impacted many people, and we are devastated to say that she is no longer with us.   

On July 9th, 2019 Miley's 9-year-old life was taken. Her family is struggling with  the shock of this loss. As her cheer coach, I want to bring awareness to the needs of her beloved family. 

This Go Fund Me page has been created to cover the costs of transporting her back to the U.S., supporting the family with funeral expenses, and adding to the coping strategies for Miley's siblings, cousins, friends, and guardians.


I have increased the goal because we just received news that the plot of land at the cemetery is $7,000 alone. Transferring her body is $5,000. I am hoping to raise the other $3,000 for funeral expenses.

Valentin Alvarez is Miley’s uncle and will be handling the finances of transportation, funeral services, and other expenses related to Miley’s expenses.
