SYNOPSIS: Preston Avery’s entire life is turned upside down when his wife and daughter are suddenly taken from him in a tragic accident.
This is a film about picking up the pieces.
It’s hard not to consider the nature of grief in this day and age. Our news feeds inundate us everyday with new and inexplicable acts of seemingly random violence, tragedy and loss.
Ordinary people are forced to endure extraordinary pain everyday, all around us. For those facing the sudden and unexpected loss of a loved one, the pain can be enigmatic and invisible from the outside looking in. This film is an exploration into what it means to cope with loss and to grieve.
The motorcycle itself is a symbol of singularity and of relative isolation, of traveling a given road alone - for how else is it that one actually experiences grief?
Last year an average of 28 people per day were killed in drunk driving related incidents in the United States. This is an alarming statistic and these deaths are preventable. These are our sons and daughters, moms and dads, wives and husbands, friends and lovers.
A Thousand Miles Behind is a micro-budget feature film that is only even possible because of some super talented people digging in and believing in the script.
