a special scarf for The Cure Parkinson’s Trust

Donation protected
Our aim: to raise £3000 to print a first run of 50 special commission silk scarves ~ 100% profit from all sales of this ‘Cube’ scarf exhibited at Bonhams Cure3 exhibition/auction will be donated to the Cure Parkinson's Trust.

My father, Richard Allan (pictured at work in 1962 age 30) was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease age 40 which had devastating ramifications. Not least was the impossibility of continuing his successful design and manufacturing business Richard Allan Scarves beyond 1982. Richard Allan Scarves produced hundreds of beautiful silk scarf designs from the 1960s until my father’s retirement, selling both here and internationally. I am embarking on a relaunch of the business and have been approached for a number of collaborations ~ I am particularly keen to support this project:

Three years ago I learnt of the Cure Parkinson's Trust whilst looking for a way to raise funds to support pioneering research into a cure. In turn I met with Artwise who devised and curate ‘Cure3’, a biennial exhibition event at Bonhams, New Bond Street. Artists, from Anish Kapoor to Damien Hirst, and fashion designers from Roksanda to Simone Rocha, create and donate works based on a ‘cube’, which are sold to support the Trust. The event was a huge success in 2018. This September the exhibition will go ahead with an art and design theme, just prior to London Fashion Week.

The exhibition stands for innovation, active hope and creativity, but is reliant upon sponsors to help fundraise.

A special scarf 135cm silk square will be produced in two/three colourways, hand finished and entirely made in the UK. This is my father’s design from the 1960s based on a cube and re-coloured by me.

Richard Allan London will promote the scarf on its website. We are also happy to carry acknowledgement of our sponsors, accreditation at the show and in all materials and collateral promotion.

We are seeking £3,000 sponsorship in order to kick start printing the first run of 50 scarves at the end of June and wonder whether you may be interested to help?

Richard Allan will donate 100% of its profits to the Trust from sales of the Cube scarf at Cure3 exhibition and thereafter through our retail partners which will enable us to donate to The Cure Parkinson's Trust well into the future.

To get this project established,  it would be wonderful to receive a donation from you.  It seems fitting to support this worthwhile research with silk scarves in my father’s memory.

To say thank you:

For donations of £500 or more we would like to send you one of these beautiful, purposeful, versatile scarves;
For donations of £250 or more we would like to send you a mini archival print of this stunning design;
And donations of any size will always be welcome.

(Scarves and prints will be available to purchase on our website).

[Covid has had a devastating effect on charitable donations generally, as quite rightly funds have been diverted to help the NHS and other organisations involved, therefore we are now even more determined to raise enough to proceed with this project. ]
