Support for beloved brain-injured Calgary Grandma

It is with great sadness that we make this heartfelt plea to the GoFundMe family on behalf of our loving mother and grandmother, Brenda. In January 2015 Brenda had a severe sinus infection that unfortunately led to a catastrophic and permanent brain injury. Brenda was young at heart and active 60-year-old when she found herself in need of vigilant, 24-hour  care for the rest of her life. The brain injury is tragically irreversible and Brenda — who would go out of her way to help others — now finds herself in need of help. Her cognitive function is so severely  damaged that she is at great danger if not properly supervised at all times. 
As you can imagine, the cost of keeping Brenda in a safe, nurturing and caring home —where her dignity, health and medical needs are met — is well beyond what we, the family, can provide.
Unfortunately our medical system does not have facilities equipped to accommodate Brenda’s significant needs and government funding is not nearly enough to cover the cost of care. The only option to keep her safe is 24hour care in her own home and this is becoming financially impossible to provide.
COVID-19 has only added to the severity of our situation.
As a family we have done everything we can to care for Brenda over the last six years. We have exhausted all resources and that is why we are now asking that you kindly donate to help provide care for Brenda. Thank you so much for your time and consideration we truly appreciate your generosity .
