A Room for Ellie

Hi! This fundraiser is to help cover our family's moving cost.  After almost six months of looking for a place that is safe for our daughter and will allow us to give Ellie the best quality of life possible - we found the perfect home.  We had been planning on getting a cosigner for a personal loan to cover the security deposit and first months rent. However due to unforeseen circumstances that has fallen though. The lease on our dream home is ready for us - but now on our own we don't qualify for a personal loan.

A little backstory on our angel and why it is so important to our family that we move as soon as possible and not lose this amazing opportunity. Eleanour was born with multiple congitental heart defects. Her main defect is Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, with a double outlet right ventricle, heterotaxy, dextrocardia, and an unbalanced AV canal. That basically means that she was born with only half a heart, her organs are misplaced, and her heart is reversed. Ellie has spent her whole life fighting. The first nine months we spent at CHOP and she suffered from two strokes. She is now has partial blindness and her left side is weaker than her right. They told us she would never walk or talk but she is suprising all of her doctors. Ellie is our superhero.

At this point in time CHOP is unable to help her from a surgical standpoint. We are hoping things change in the coming months but currently she needs oxgyen daily to help her breath. She is always a little blue but she never lets that stop her. Our family motto is now quality over quantity. We want whatever time we are graced with her to be filled with new experiences and fun adventures. Her life may be shorter than most but it won't be lacking.

On that note we have been trying for months to find a place big enough for Ellie to have her own room. My amazing mother has been staying in our tiny apartment with us to help my husband and I care for Ellie.  Unfortunately earlier this year there was a major fire and she lost everything.  There was no question she would move in with us full time.  Because of Ellie's nursing - Ellie has just stayed in the living room, but now she is in dire need of more room and a safer living environment.

The layout of our current apartment isn't safe for her.  She has fallen down the stairs on multiple on multiple occasions (the baby gate has to sit 3 steps down) and ended up in the ER. With her blood thinners and clotting history any event like that is dangerous. The windows in our apartment are drafty and we are not allowed to do any weather proofing. In the summer she is to hot and the winter to cold. Neither are good for a cardic baby. We recently have started to find evidence of mold growth. This living arrangement isn't safe for our family anymore.

We found our perfect home. It has enough bedrooms for everyone and even a playroom for Ellie. The playroom can easily be converted to a larger bedroom if she develops more medical equipment. There is a backyard where she can play and explore her world.

We know it is the holidays and there are more people who are more deserving and have greater needs than us. With all the loan applications coming back denied and other parties interested in renting this home we are struggling to know what to do. Ideally the homeowners would like us to move in by next weekend.  We would have the space to give Ellie her first real Christamas. Space for a tree that she can hang ornaments on. Space for her to play and grow. But most importantly her own bedroom. A place that is her own.
