A Proper Farewell for our Friend Jorge

Our friend Jorge passed away on April 27, 2021 due to a stroke. Jorge was homeless and staying at the Myrtle-Wyckoff L train station. We had known him for five months through our homeless outreach project, which provided him with supplies he needed in order to survive living out in the streets. Our ultimate goal was to get him housed and three weeks ago we had come closer to that goal.
On Monday, April 12, however, when we went to pick him up at the train station to take him to the new room we had rented for him, he was nowhere to be found. We then learned that he was in the ICU. Two days after he was supposed to start the new job that we had found for him, he passed away at the age of 48.
Our hearts are broken by this unpredictable turn of events and we are supporting his next of kin in making sure Jorge gets a dignified and proper farewell. The costs you'll be contributing to will be going for payment to the Morten Funeral Home for their assistance in making arrangements for our friend's passing.
Jorge is why we fight for housing for all. We thank you for your support.
