A Personal Appeal To Help Dan Ware

I am reaching out to you today on behalf of my dear friend and colleague Dan Ware, the owner and operator of Toto Tours, one of the premier providers of adventure tours for the LGBTQ community, their families and friends. I've had the privilege to be a Toto Tours Host representing Dan and Toto on thirteen tours. I am eternally grateful to Dan for these amazing opportunities and experiences, but I've also traveled frequently with Dan in the lead, and have always been inspired by his zest for life.
With the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in early 2020, all of Toto's travel plans had to be shelved. At exactly the same moment, Dan was diagnosed with a pernicious cancer. He embarked on several months of radiation, chemo therapies, and immunotherapy infusions. For a time he seemed to be in the clear, but the cancer has recently reappeared. His oncologists tell him now that to save his life, he needs to undergo radical surgery. The date is set for July 2nd, and I ask you to keep him in your thoughts that day.
Dan has excellent medical insurance coverage and is not struggling with those sky-high bills. However, there is the matter of simply living day to day. Dan and his husband Jonathan both lost their sole source of income when Toto Tours had to go on hiatus. He had been busily planning a full line-up of tours for 2022, but now, with his upcoming surgery and extended recovery time, he will have to further delay them. Dan is looking at a second year or longer without income after having depleted his savings over the past year.
Dan has said that if there’s one thing he's learned in his decades of leading adventure tours, it is that nothing is guaranteed to go smoothly. And when things don't go as planned, we pull together and lift each other up to get through any difficulty. He calls it the "Toto Spirit" and asks each traveler to join his tours in that spirit. Dan is very much in need of that uplifting now.
I am reaching out personally to ask each of you who comes to this site if you can help Dan get through this rough patch. I am not appealing on behalf of the business, Toto Tours. Any gifts you make will strictly be used to help with Dan and Jonathan's ongoing living expenses.
