Nakia is mother of 3, wife, daughter , sister, and friend to many. Pregnant, Nakia left her job in the medical field to protect her unborn son from Covid 19. As fate would have it, the “cold” She thought she had would end up being Covid 19 at 24 weeks pregnant. After being intubated on the ventilator for many days she had struggled to regain her ability to breathe on her own and save her unborn son. After extended ICU admissions, Nakia is learning to eat and drink again, walk, talk and breathe on her own with the help of a trach.
