Her Name is Meddy Proaño Estupiñan. She suffered an accident, together with her grandfather Galo Estupiñán , in which both received an electric shock of high voltage (13.000 V), on March 8, 2018. Her grandfather fought for his life until the end, he sadly passed away with burns of 90% of his body.
Meddy survived but she's got almost 40% of her body burned. She was transferred to the Luis Vernaza Hospital in Guayaquil, Ecuador where she remains in intensive care in the burning unit room. She was initially in an induced coma, and now she has pneumonia, among other complications. Doctors and nurses work day and night so her story doesn't end the same as to her grandpa. That's why we need your help.
The initial treatments were extremely expensive and every day in the hospital exceeds the 200 dollars in supplies and medicine. Meddy daily receives care for all the burn areas in her body with high costs involved.
She's been hospitalized for over three weeks and still unaware how much longer she can be in this situation.
The Shriners Hospital for Children in Galveston, Texas has agreed to admit Meddy and cover some cost of her care. Meddy needs to be transferred from the hospital in Ecuador to USA in a special airplane.
Our goal is to get $80.000 for Meddy, this will help to pay a portion of the account, which is expected to be higher. This will immensily help bringing Meddy to the USA to receive all the specialized treatment that she urgently needs.
Meddy is fighting a daily battle for her life, her recovery will be slow, so we ask for help. We thank you, your family and friends in advance for any contribution you can make to help cover all hospital related expenses.
