A Lot of Love for a Little Ondrek

As many of you know it has been a long challenging journey for us in our dream to become parents. We as a small family have talked about having kids since college and always imagined what it would be like to be a mother and father and share the love we have for each other with a soul (or souls) we'd love to bring into this planet.

It has been almost a decade that we have been actively trying to conceive let alone have children. In those 9 years we have done everything you can possibly do as far as tests, surgeries, medications, two rounds of IUI (intrauterine insemination) countless visits to different fertility clinics, and of course natural methods with acupunture, chinese herbs, ovulation tests, tracking temperatures, and even just relaxing and letting it "happen" as it should. We have both been found to be perfectly healthy and no real determinable reason why we shouldn't conceive. My Laparoscopy revealed one of my tubes might be slightly restricted, but that doesn't mean infertile.  

In fact,  in 2016 some of you know we were blessed  with the hope that we finally broke the mold having gotten pregnant. But unfortunately we lost that hope two months later due to an "off chromosome", and have not been lucky again since. This definitely broke our spirit for a while. But some of you whom were so supportive assured us this was just a hiccup and that it was lucky to be able to get pregnant at all.

We are honestly at our wits end and after visiting a second fertility clinic were told due to my age that our best bet is IVF (InVetro Fertilization). Of course none of the cost of that procedure or medications that accompany it are covered by our insurance. To have an effective and high probable chance of getting pregnant this way doctors need to do the ICSI method where you freeze the eggs and examine them in a lab. From there you choose ones that are the best options. This was quoted to us as costing about $25,000.00.  That number at first glance is discouraging.  but something in us does not want to give up

It seems truly a mystery that some are gifted with fertility and others are not. Some may say its unfair. But we are determined to not make this be our story, but rather be apart of it . Every part of this journey has taught us so much. Hopefully you will be apart of our story too.

We will admit at first this is an seemingly awkward thing to ask of your friends. Infertility is not a commonly discussed subject, nor is this something that will save a life or cure cancer. Its just one of our longest lasting hopes and dreams. Our friends whom we have watched give birth know the blessing it brings. 

So we ask for a once in a lifetime gift to support our funds to receive an ICSI/ IVF treatment. We have a 18% rate of success if we do not do testing on the eggs but a 21-35% chance if we do. The more eggs we can get tested the better...and each one costs about $150 each to get tested in the lab. Of course we are putting our savings into this as well, but what you have to contribute will be vital. We thank you for your love, support and continued thoughts and prayers.
