We would like to thank you for continuing to support PlayToHelp’s mission. With your support, we were able to send 6 children to school over the last year.
For the coming year, we would like your support to:
1) Send a total of 10 children to school; 6 current and 4 additional
2) Expand our support through building little free libraries (see details below*)
Our goal is to raise a total of $4000 during this holiday season to be able support 10 children and build two little libraries in Kathmandu. All the funds raised will go towards the students’ tuition, books and the building materials with minimal administrative cost and zero overhead.

Recently, many neighborhoods in the US are setting up “Little Free Libraries”, where anyone can borrow a book and return it when done. The cover picture for this fund raiser is of such a library just outside the premises of Chamisa elementary school in White Rock, New Mexico. This has inspired us to experiment with building two such libraries for children in Kathmandu. Each setup will have 20-30 books for different levels in both English and Nepali. These books will be free for children to check out and return when they are done reading. This will be a small attempt to bring a bigger cultural change.
Nepal does not have a strong reading culture. This may well have to do with not having many libraries. Even Kathmandu city does not have a good public library. There may be a few small ones scattered around the city but they require membership fee. The American library and British council are in the capital and are free but they are not known to children who may need it. Thus, libraries are not easily accessible compared to developed countries like the US, where there is a free public library in every zip code. We would like to change that.
We intend to set up two free libraries in front of a stationary shop in Kalankisthan and inside a school premise where one of our students goes to school. We will expand to additional locations once we have data around the performance of these two little libraries. We are hopeful that you will support us on this project like you always have.
