A leg up for Phil Whittington

Donation protected
Fellow Goats, everyone is aware that Phil broke his leg early in the season but in case you haven't noticed, after 16 weeks he is still on crutches and his leg is still in a cast. Unfortunately, his recovery has not gone to plan, and he has been forced to have several additional surgeries to try and repair his leg. All this has meant more time off work and more and more financial strain of his young family of three young kids.

Now, many blokes who get injured, even mild injuries, tend to disappear from the club while they are injured. Not Phil. No, despite copping as bad an injury as this he has stayed on, been to almost every Thursday training and has been pitch side cheering us on and abusing the ref at every single game.

Yes, he is an English Ginger, but he is our English Ginger. He is passionate about the Goats and he loves the Goats. He’s a top bloke but he is going through a rough time. So, lads, it’s time we show some love back by helping a bloke out who has helped us out.

We are aiming for $2000 and the club is willing to kick it off with $500. All we ask is you chip in a little bit, whatever you can, as this is a bloke who deserves a bit of help.

Lastly, we ask you don't mention it to him for now, as we know Phil is not someone who would ask for handouts but we know he would appreciate it. We plan to present it to him and his wife Karina at the awards night on September 15 so hopefully we can present a decent amount.

Thanks lads.
