A learning robot for Joshua
Hi, we are Class 2E and we are raising money to support our class mate Joshy.
At the end of March Joshy, aged 5 at the time, was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Joshy and his family’s lives were suddenly turned upside down and COVID made it even harder as Joshy was allowed no visitors during such a challenging time.
Joshy was diagnosed with a Medulloblastoma and he will need almost a year of treatment, including 6 weeks of radiotherapy under general anaesthetic, followed by 10 months of Chemotherapy. Unfortunately Joshy also developed Posterior Fossa Syndrome which meant after the surgery he was not able to move his arms, legs or lift his head and was unable to eat or speak.
Five months on and Joshy is working incredibly hard and making good progress with his recovery.
As a class, we would love to support Joshys return back to the classroom. We are setting ourselves a number of challenges throughout September to raise at least £8500. Our ultimate goal is to raise enough money to be able to rent Joshy an AV1 for at least a school year. AV1 is a distance learning robot that makes it possible for children with long-term illness to take part at school via an app on their phone or tablet.
If we can raise enough money for the AV1, our next goal would be to buy Joshy some physio equipment to support his recovery at home.
We can’t wait to have Joshy back in our classroom, please dig deep and help us achieve our goal(s).
Joshy, we think you rock!!
