A Home for the Browns

Two people who are very near and dear to me are in a pretty awful place with their living situation. They are both in their 80s. The husband has diabetes as well as has to go to dialysis 3 times a week and the wife is a cancer survivor and has problems getting around. The house that they were living in sold and a family member offered to let them move into a house that she has that was vacant. Little did they know the nightmare that they were walking into. They were not able to see the house prior to their move-in date due to the fact that she told them that she had a contractor in the house doing work. Upon moving into the house, they found out that there was in fact nobody working on the house as well as it was full of things that she still had not moved out of the house. They had to pile all of their things into the front room and garage for several days until she moved it all out. Then they discovered that the air conditioning was not working (in the middle of a heatwave) and it took her two weeks to have it fixed. There are several places of water damage throughout the house, however, she assured them that she had had the roof replaced. Which they believed until we received a lot of rain a couple of weeks ago and they discovered that the roof is still leaking in several places. This is just one thing in a long list of things wrong with the house (mold, wood rot, disgusting carpet that has obviously never been changed despite the leaks in the roof, plumbing issues, cabinets so covered in gunk that they are unusable...I could go on and on). Whenever they ask her about getting things fixed she won't give them a definite answer and keeps using the current situation in the country as a reason why she can't get anyone to the house. I would believe this if it were not for the fact that I work with these types of vendors every day and in fact, have had three of my own vendors out to the house to fix things that she would not address. As you can guess, this situation is really wearing on them and I am extremely worried about what this will do to their health. I was able to find them a new place, however, in order to move into the new house, they need first and last months rent as well as a security deposit. About $5400 total. They do have a portion of it but I would really like to find some way to help them cover the rest to get them out of this nightmare as soon as possible.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  These are two of the nicest people that I have ever met and I hate to see them going through this situation.
