HELP CHAMPION ANGY-MIKE MOSSENGO FIND A HEART

Angy-Mike Mossengo was born in New York in 2003. He is the son of Jeanine and Pascal Mossengo, a brother to Tina, Emmanuel, and Benjamin Mossengo. His family moved to York, PA in 2003 after his birth. Angy-Mike’s infancy was uneventful. As a 15-year-old teenager, Angy- Mike enjoys spending time with families, friends, and playing sports. He loves wrestling and is very passionate about it. He has wrestled at Red Lion school in York, PA since 7th grade. He has been very ambitious and had always desired to win the best wrestling in the country. He also loves attending church and participates in youth activities and services. Since 2004, Angy-Mike and his family are active members of the Evangelical Center for Revival that is affiliated with the Lancaster Mennonite Conference.

As a young wrestler, all his ambitions began to collapse around summer of 2019. He had travelled in Europe with his parents to visit families this summer 2019. After their return, he continued to wrestle. However, he noticed that he felt very tired even while he took a flight of steps. He associated his tiredness to overworking. As he continued to struggle, wrestling became difficult. He became exhausted and short of breath and could not run as he used to.

Despite the early symptoms, he continued to go to school but felt exhausted, very weak, unwell, and lacked energy to even play wrestling that he enjoyed. Finally, after weeks of struggles, Angy-Mike relayed his symptoms to his mother who summoned a visit to his pediatrician. An EKG and labs work were ordered. On august 22, 2019 after school Angy-Mike got weaker and felt like passing out. He could not walk from the bus stop to home. His parents picked him at the bus stop and brought him home. His health deteriorated so quickly, and he began to throw up blood that afternoon. His parents rushed him to York WellSpan hospital. A chest X-ray was performed and showed a grossly abnormal heart enlargement and lot of fluids in his lungs. He had to be transferred urgently to Hershey Medical center but unfortunately no intensive care beds were available. The decision was made to transfer Angy-Mike to CHOP (Children’s hospital of Philadelphia).

On August 23, 2019 while at CHOP after numerous cardiac testing, the family received a very shocking and scary news. Angy-Mike was diagnosed with complete heart failure, dilated cardiomyopathy with an ejection fraction of 10%. In other words, his heart had almost stopped working. Angy-Mike could have died anytime without intervention. After unsuccessful attempts to manage his conditions conservatively with medications, a decision was made and Angy-Mike underwent an open heart surgery for insertion of a temporary left ventricular- assisted device ( LVAD) to support his failing heart while he awaited heart transplant .

The average cost of this procedure was $398, 000 according to Annals of Thoracic Surgery. The team of doctors at CHOP said that a heart transplant was Angy-Mike’s only chance of survival. He is anticipated to remain in Philadelphia under strict and stringent cardiology and heart transplant supervisions. He currently resides at Ronald MacDonald house in Philadelphia. His parents who worked full time now only work part time to care for Angy-mike who requires 24 hours and 7 days one on one  care. When one parent works part time, the other parent is attending Angy Mike. His parents alternatively commute 2-hour drive to stay with him. Angy -Mike prays that he finds a new heart as soon as possible. The LVAD device is life alternating provision for him. As you can see in the picture, this internal device from the heart is connected through Angy’s belly to the outside batteries. It is the crucial pump needs constant electrical supplies 24 hours and 7 days a week in order  to function.

Angy-Mike is so upbeat and have faith that Jesus Christ will provide him with a new heart. His favorite Bible verse is Psalms 118, verse 4 “The Lord is my strength and my defense, HE has become my salvation”. We would like to first and foremost ask for prayers for Angy-Mike and his family for healing and faith in Jesus Christ the ultimate Healer. Heart transplant is a lifesaver and is associated with high cost from surgery, rehabilitation, anti-rejection medications that Angy-mike will have to take for the rest of his life. According to the National Foundation for transplants, the average cost of a heart transplant and the associated first-year expenses cost $ 1 million. Please help Angy Mike find a heart and his family pay for medical, living, and traveling expenses while they stay with him in Philadelphia waiting for a new heart. Help Angy -Mike  so he can go back to  attending church, wrestling and  living a normal and long  life as a young teenager and grow  up to be an adult and a father one day.
