A Glass of Clean Water

As Benjamin Franklin rightly said, “When the well is dry, we know the worth of water.” For most of us, the farthest we have had to walk for a glass of water is down the stairs and into the kitchen. We have never once had to wonder when we would be able to have our next glass of water. However, this worrisome thought is persistent in the minds of many others. In this day and age, our children are able to relish the liberties of having their own cell phone or joyfully play at the park without a care in the world. Other children are wondering how far they will have to walk today while carrying hefty pots of water on their backs in order to support their families. These children are being deprived of their childhood, and they have no other choice.
Their struggle will never be one that we can fully comprehend, as we have never lived it. What we can comprehend is that this is a very real and very heartbreaking issue that 844 million people have to face on a daily basis.
Let’s make the most of the strong voices we possess and help those who don’t.
I am organizing a campaign called #AGlassOfCleanWater. I have teamed up with an organization called Wells For Life to build a self-sustainable deep well in the tribal area of the Dangs District in Gujarat, India. The well will be built outside of an elementary school, with a size of roughly forty-two young boys and girls. I have also recently become an ambassador for an organization called WaterAid. Once I have received all the necessary funding for the well, any additional proceeds will be donated to WaterAid and you will be notified of what exactly your donation will go towards!
I respectfully urge you to educate others on this issue and share this link to spread the word about my campaign. My goal is to raise the funds within two months so that the work to build the well can commence on time.
We are all human; we are all brothers and sisters. Your support is crucial in taking the next step in providing everyone with easy access to clean water. This will not be possible without your generosity.
