A Gaza Family’s Struggle for a New Dawn

With the war of extermination on the Gaza Strip, it was imperative for me to help my friends safely and peacefully escape this war and save themselves and their families. This is the story of my friend Ahmed.

Hello, I am Ahmed Al-Jadili from Gaza, a husband and father of 6 children. Before the war of October 7th, I lived with my wife, my five daughters, and my young son in our family home in the “Al-Karamah” area, west of Gaza.
My financial situation was not very good; I was drowning in debt and earning a modest salary that barely sufficed to secure my family’s needs. Therefore, I embarked on a project to serve as an additional source of income. The project was a supermarket, which I opened in March 2023 in the Jabalia camp. Unfortunately, the supermarket was completely destroyed by the machinery of war. This project cost me $68,000, which was an amount made up of debts and financial obligations. It was a beautiful dream and a hope for a future through which I could support my family, cover financial commitments, and educate my daughters at universities. What made my responsibility even more difficult was that I suffer from a herniated disc in my back, and my health is not well.

The war came to exacerbate our situation, as we were forced to evacuate our home from the start of the war against our will due to the intense bombing our area experienced and the orders to evacuate the area and head to southern Gaza. Our house was completely bulldozed by bulldozers during the ground invasion.

Our journey of displacement began, moving several times from one area to another, with all the difficulties we faced in finding a suitable place for the children and providing food and the necessary needs for them. What made matters even more difficult was that my primary workplace, “Al-Shifa Hospital,” was completely destroyed in a very brutal manner.

I have 5 teenage daughters in addition to my wife and young child, and I find it very difficult to provide the necessary feminine needs for them every month amid the insane rise in health supplies and other goods. I had to undergo emergency surgery during the war at a cost of $5,000 during such a difficult time, and after I ran out of options, I decided to ask for help from the compassionate hearts around the world.

I now need $25,000 to be able to leave the Gaza Strip through the Rafah land crossing linked to Egypt and provide for my family’s needs until the war of extermination we are living ends and to be able to find a job opportunity that suits my health condition, and to provide a happy life for my family to achieve their dreams and aspirations.

The breakdown of the amount needed is as follows:

Crossing through the Rafah/Egypt border: $5,000 per adult (total $10,000)
Crossing through the Rafah/Egypt border: $2,500 for those under 16 years of age (total $15,000)
Providing an apartment for rent and monthly living expenses for 6 months (total $10,000)

Asking for help is not easy, but we believe that there is still good in this world, so I hope you will help me and my family survive in these difficult circumstances. We are grateful to everyone who will donate to us and appreciate your feelings and support for us.
