A family that’s lost everything due to a fire

My name is Chael and I’m 25 years old and on the 20th of march 2024 I returned home in the evening after been at family court all day due to me currently been a foster carer for my younger cousin who is 6 Years old, I have no children of my own at this time.

unfortunately when I opened my front door of my one bedroom property I was overwhelmed with smoke which made it clear my house was on fire at that point I was in disbelief and was not aware of the extent of the damage as I was too scared to enter the property fully other than getting assistance to retrieve my dog who was in the property.

Fast forward a bit and once the fire brigade had been and gone I then got to see the extent of the damage and realised I’d lost everything, everything I own/the place I called home, everything id bought for my younger cousin to rebuild his life with me, the list goes on…

the next day I approached my Lanlord and Kirklees housing for assistance in what to do next as at this point I was deemed homeless and was devastated after what seems and feels like loosing everything in the blink of an eye. I can’t go into too much detail but what I will say is both have not been very helpful and added to our stress.

Unfortunately I didn’t have content insurance so I’m not covered for my loss and this is something I deeply regret not having now.

I’m also now in a situation where I can’t be put into emergency accommodation because I own a dog and she is an xlbully which as you will be aware these are now deemed dangerous and banned but she is everything to me and not a chance I’m I willing to give her up especially when she basically all iv got left.
