A family in need of some support.

Hi, my name is LaShondra and I’m raising funds for my sweet little family that consists of myself and my 2 boys, Tre and Taylor. We are just needing some support to help get caught up on rent after falling behind last month. This is truly a very hard thing for me to do as asking for help is stepping way out of my comfort zone and I’m normally one to just tough it out and simply figure out a solution on my own.

I have an amazing job as an assistant teacher at a developmental preschool and the joy and love that working with kids with special needs brings you on a daily basis is simply the best. But unfortunately, sometimes it just feels like it’s unsustainable to live off of a teacher salary alone and on top of that, do it all alone while trying to maintain constant increases to the cost of living in a city like Seattle.

As many of you may or may not know, Tre and Taylor’ father was diagnosed with congestive heart failure a few years ago and came very close to loosing his life in October of last year after suffering cardiac arrest. The road to recovery was extremely hard and by the grace of God, he’s still here to tell his story. With that being said, we have a pretty great co-parenting relationship but the financial burden of taking on the majority of expenses related to our children while he went through the recovery process and was unable to work has been extremely hard.

After explaining our circumstances to my landlord and even giving her a heads up that I’m in the process of trying to find some resources on rental assistance, she still took it upon herself to inform me this week that she has started the eviction process.

I am reaching out to my community and village for some support to help get us through the end of the year. First and most importantly to help get caught up on rent and then also would love to be able to provide my kiddos with the Christmas they deserve.

I want to say thank you in advance. Again, being this vulnerable and finding the courage to ask for help is HARD and not at all an easy thing for me to do. But times get hard and living in a city as expensive as Seattle as a single parent can for sure have it’s share of challenges!!
