Dying homeless on the street.

Donation protected
January 5, 2018

• Suffered a stroke while at work.
• Never took a single day off work.
. . . . . .

June 2019

• Despite repeatedly expressing concerns about his health, he was transferred to a different office.
. . . . . .
Early 2020

• Tasked with training his obvious (younger) replacement.
. . . . . .
March 12, 2020

• COVID-19 is announced.
• Immediately “laid off” after almost 15 years of service.
• Replaced immediately (as mentioned earlier).
. . . . . .
June 2020

• Former employer contacts him, asking about his running ability in his “prime” and inquiring if he had bought certain stocks. (He informs them that he no longer has an income).
. . . . . .

July 16, 2020

• 60th Birthday
• Receives a birthday greeting from the company COO, who asks about his enjoyment of the summer weather but makes no mention of returning to work.
• On that day, he sought legal advice.
• Legal advice confirms that what has been done to him is wrong and reassures him that he has 'the truth on his side.'
. . . . . .
August 2020

• His legal team informs him that his former employer is willing to offer severance pay.
• However, they retracted the offer just one day later.
• His legal advisors reiterate that he has nothing to worry about because ‘he has the truth on his side.’
• Later (2023), it will turn out his legal advisors were greedy and incompetent.
. . . . . .

September 2020

• Undergoes life-saving surgery. (He now has a cardiologist).
. . . . . .

October 15, 2020

• Suffers the loss of a close friend (death).
. . . . . .

December 12, 2021

• His last remaining sister died.
. . . . . .

January 2021

• His former employer, with the consent of his legal team, effectively blocks him from working in the same industry or contacting former clients and prospects. This destroys any chance of finding a new career in the industry where he invested almost 15 years of his life, especially considering the reluctance of companies to hire someone in their sixties.
. . . . . .
March 2020—Present

• Writes and pitches 14 manuscripts.
• Watches his family's life savings dwindle as his debt becomes unmanageable. Simply for survival.
. . . . . .

2023

• Has applied to over 260 jobs, all resulting in being ignored, scammed, or rejected due to his age.
• Contrary to assumptions, he has applied to various positions, including fast-food restaurants, Cineplex theatres, bellhop roles, and more.
• Cries every day.
. . . . . .

Mistakes Made

• Believed finding a job would be easy if needed. The reality is harsh for people in their sixties.
• Listened to news narratives that suggest homelessness is solely caused by mental health issues or addiction problems.
• Trusted his legal team.
. . . . . .

The Harsh Reality

• Unless a miracle occurs soon, he and his family will soon become homeless.
. . . . . .

What Breaks His Heart

• Hearing acquaintances speak disparagingly about those who are suffering and slipping through the cracks.
. . . . . .

HIS FAMILY IS FALLING THROUGH THE CRACKS

HE Has?

• Applied for Social Assistance but was deemed ineligible due to his monthly CPP income of $495, as he is considered not poor enough.
• Wrote and pitched 14 manuscripts.
• Applied for over 260 jobs.
• Never gave up.
• Cries every day.
. . . . . .

What is about to happen?

• Facing eviction.
• Utilities will be shut off.
• Will lose communication services, including internet and phone.
• Without a home or means of communication, J will lose his job, which requires periodically working from home.
• Will have to say goodbye to their beloved 12-year-old cat, Hana.
• What's he doing about this?
• Keeps trying.
• Started the Falling Through The Cracks Foundation with the aim of making a difference.
. . . . . .
The clock is ticking, and unless a miracle occurs, they fear dying on the street.

Is this hyperbole?

NO.

. . . . . .

FINAL WORDS

In a state of fear, sadness, and brokenness, he never anticipated his world would reach this point. At his age, having a remaining family is a rarity, and his family, to say the least, is quite confusing.
Despite feeling overwhelmed, he wants you to know that he will never give up. However, he also acknowledges the imminent implosion of his world; as a famous rabbit once said→↓

“THAT'S ALL FOLKS.”

Until that fateful day arrives, he urges each and every one of you to refrain from judging those who are suffering because their backstories are often unknown to us.

So, if you ever feel the urge to make a cruel comment like, “I avoid that street because the people there are disgusting,” please reconsider or simply say nothing at all.

Remember, life can be fragile no matter how hard you try to control it.

By the way, if you’re willing to help and contribute towards saving his family, please consider donating.

He doesn’t believe he is more deserving than anyone else going through the turmoil of life, but he simply wants to survive. And if he does, he promises to strive towards making the world persistently and genuinely a slightly more compassionate and empathetic place.
