A Door to Hope: Fund a Home for the Amos Family

Sehr geehrte Leserinnen und Leser,

Mein Name ist Andrea und ich komme aus Österreich. Ich starte für meine Herzens-Familie in Nigeria (Westafrika) diese Kampagne. Ich nenne sie Familie, weil sie das in meinem Herzen auch ist. Die Amos-Familie sind Mutter Felicia Amos, ihre beiden Töchter, ihr Sohn Richard Bobdoe und ein kleiner Enkelsohn. Der Vater ist vor 18 Jahren verstorben.

Ich habe sie vor etwa 2 Jahren kennen und lieben gelernt. Es handelt sich um anständige und vertrauenswürdige Menschen, die sich bemühen, unter den harten Bedingungen, wie man sie in Nigeria findet, ihr Bestes zu geben.

Ich bitte im Namen meiner Familie um Unterstützung beim Erwerb eines kleinen Bungalows. Ein zu Hause anstatt einem winzigen Zimmer.

Ein kleiner Einblick in den Hintergrund:

Felicia Amos und ihre Töchter mit Baby Riley wohnen derzeit in einem winzigen Zimmer am Stadtrand von Abuja (der Hauptstadt Nigerias), das gerade so Platz für ein Bett bietet, das von den Töchtern und dem Baby genutzt wird. Die Mutter schläft auf einer Matte auf dem harten Boden. Da diese Situation schon seit vielen Jahren anhält, entwickelt sie bereits ernsthafte gesundheitliche Probleme an ihrem Bein und leidet unter häufiger Schlaflosigkeit.

Felicia Amos ist eine fleißige Frau, trotzdem bringt ihr anspruchsvoller Vollzeitjob als Sicherheitsbeamtin nur €11 pro Monat ein. Der Preis für einen 50kg-Sack Reis liegt in Nigeria derzeit bei zirka €30, Tendenz steigend. Die jährliche Miete von etwa €62 für diese winzige "Wohnung" aufzubringen, ist immer ein großer Kampf.

Ihre beiden Töchter studieren an der Universität. Eine möchte Bauingenieurin werden, die andere will nach dem Studium einen guten Job bekommen oder ein Unternehmen aufbauen.

Ihr Sohn Richard (25) macht derzeit den obligatorischen Nationaldienst (was unserem Grundwehrdienst entspricht) und arbeitet gleichzeitig hart daran, sich im Bereich der Netzwerksicherheit zu etablieren. Sein Ziel ist es einen guten Job zu bekommen und sich um seine Mutter und Familie zu kümmern. Derzeit wohnt er ebenfalls in einem gemieteten kleinen Zimmer, um lernen zu können.

Die derzeitigen Lebensumstände sind erdrückend und trotz harter Arbeit nur schwer zu durchbrechen. Deshalb bitte ich um Hilfe für meine Familie, dieses Hause zu erwerben.

Warum?

Warum strebe ich €20,000 an?

Es kann derzeit ein 4-Zimmer-Bungalow mit etwas Land drumherum für €10,000 erworben werden.

Das Haus ist jedoch noch im Bau, wie auf dem angehängten Beispielbild zu sehen ist (Ziegelwände stehen, kein Anschluss an Elektrizität und Wasser, kein Dach und kein Anstrich). Angesichts der explodierenden Wahnsinnsinflation wird es noch einmal diesselbe Summe von €10,000 kosten, um das Haus fertig zu stellen, damit man darin wohnen kann.

Aus diesen beiden Posten setzt sich das Spendenziel von €20,000 zusammen.

Ich bitte Sie, meiner Familie zu helfen, ein Zuhause zu bekommen. Die Not ist groß. Jeder Euro ist wertvoll und bringt uns näher ans Ziel. Wir sind zutiefst dankbar dafür.

Greetings to all who take time to read this,

my Name is Andrea, from Austria and I am initiating this campaign for my family in Nigeria (West Africa). I call them my family because that is what they are in my heart. The Amos-Family that is mother Felicia Amos, her 2 daughters, her son, Richard Bobdoe and a baby-grandson. The father passed away 18 years ago.

I have come to know and love them them since about 2 years. They are decent and trustworthy people who strive to live up their best under harsh conditions as found in places like Nigeria. In the name of my family I am asking for support for them to acquire a decent house, so they have a home and a place to live which truly will turn their lives around.

A little about the background:

Felicia Amos and her daughters with baby-boy Riley are currently residing in a tiny room in the outskirts of Abuja (Nigeria's capital), which has just enough space for one bed used by the daughters and the baby. The mother is sleeping on a mat on the hard floor. As this situation has been going on for many years, she is suffering from constant fatigue beginning to develop serious health issues on her leg.

Felicia Amos is a hard-working woman, still her demanding full-time-job as a security guard only pays about €11 per month. The price for a 50kg sack of rice is around €30 right now and counting. To acquire the yearly rent (rent is mostly paid yearly over there) of about €62 for this small place is always a great struggle.

Her 2 daughters are both studying. One wants to become a civil-engineer and the other is aiming to finish school to get a good job or build up a business.

Her son, Richard (25), is doing the obligatory National Service and working hard to establish himself in the field of network-security. His goal is to get a good job and be able to care for his family. He currently resides in another small apartment to be able to study and learn.

That is why in the name of my family I am asking for support for them to acquire a decent house, so they have home, a place to live which truly will turn their lives around.

The current situation is suffocating and it is very difficult to break through in spite of hard labour on their part.

This is why I ask for help:

Why do I go for €20,000?

There is a decent 4-room-bungalow with a little land around it available now for €10,000.

However, the house is still under construction, as seen in the sample-picture attached at the end (brick-walls are standing, no connection to electricity and water, no roof). Regarding the crazy inflation right now, it will take again the same amount of €10,000 to install electricity and water, roof it, do the painting and finish it off so they can live there.

So these two items compose the fundraising-goal of €20,000.

I ask you to help my family to get a home. The need is dire. Whatever you give matters, together we will make this happen. We are deeply grateful for any support we receive.

Ein Beispielbild des Hauses, das sie erwerben möchten. Es ist deshalb nur ein Beispielbild, da der reale Ort weiter entfernt liegt und es für sie schwierig ist, ihn zu erreichen. Die Kosten für den öffentlichen Verkehr in Nigeria sind hoch. Das reale Haus ist jedoch von fast derselben Bauweise und in demselben Zustand.

Es besteht aus 4 Schlafräumen mit jeweils einem Bad, einer Küche, einem Wohn- und einem Esszimmer.
