A decent burial for Beverly Trombley

Spende geschützt
Beverly Trombley suffered a tragic death from hypothermia in Colonie NY on the night of November 30th when she became disoriented and lost during a huge snowstorm. She was homeless and destitute at the time of her death, and there are no family resources to pay her funeral and burial expenses.

Her sad story:
On Saturday night, November 30, Beverly Trombley was driving a black Ford Focus following her son Chris. He was driving a black pick-up truck.  Both vehicles were filled with a variety of household and personal items. They had become homeless and were on their way from Voorheesville, NY to Lee, MA to find a motel room for the night. All the rest of their worldly goods were in a storage unit in Lee.

As Chris entered the I-90 East ramp, he quickly realized that Beverly was no longer following him. He drove to the Lee exit on the Mass. Turnpike. He parked and waited just across the road, expecting that his Mom would arrive soon.  When she did not appear, he became very concerned. He contacted the Lee Police but was told it was a matter for New York authorities. He called two friends. All three of them drove the roads between Albany and Lee until Sunday morning. From late on Sunday into Monday, a huge snowstorm dropped between 20 and 24 inches in the area.

On Sunday, December 1 Chris contacted the Albany County Sheriff to file a Missing Person report. Early that week, the Ford Focus was found in the Town of Colonie, NY. It was deserted on or near a railroad track in an industrial area. One week later, on Tuesday, December 10, Beverly’s body was discovered about a mile from the location where the car had been found. An autopsy revealed that hypothermia was the cause of death.

Beverly was predeceased by her husband, Robert R. Trombley in 1996 and her son, Robert E. Trombley in 2015. At the time of her death, Beverly was destitute and homeless. The Roche Funeral Home of Lenox, MA is in charge of the arrangements for a funeral and burial. The First Congregational Church of Lee, United Church of Christ is hosting the funeral on Thursday, December 19 at 11 am. Committal at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lee will follow immediately. Friends and family are invited to a Reception in the church’s Community Room.

The church is conducting a Fund-Raising drive to cover the costs of the funeral and burial. The fund’s goal is $8,000. Donations can be made to FCC of Lee at P. O. Box 395  Lee, MA 01238-0395. In addition, a Go-Fund Me account will be set up with access through Facebook. Donations may also be dropped off at the church at 25 Park Place in Lee during church office hours. Any assistance is deeply appreciated.
