Coffee and Cake To Go For Paramedic Heroes
We are appealing to the compassion and generosity of the Great British public to help our Paramedics in their time of need. As we all know the latest developments of the Coronavirus are causing our frontline workers to be overwhelmed and stretched beyond their capacity like never before. Whilst we are aware that staying home and staying safe is a huge help to our NHS, there is another way that you can make a difference.
Our mission is to raise £5000 to provide food and drinks to our Paramedics in Ambulance Trusts across England, giving them £5 gift cards which can be exchanged for meals whilst on shift when they need a little pick me up.
We wanted to do something to offer a gesture of thanks but also a warm reminder that whilst out on shift, Paramedics are not alone. Long hours and often miles from home, call after call; the pressure on Paramedics now really is taking its toll and will no doubt get much worse before it gets better.
The concept 'Coffee and Cake to Go for Paramedic Heroes' was inspired by a good friend, fellow biker but most importantly a Paramedic who, like so many others, has sacrificed so much over this past year and the festive period to help in this country’s fight against the pandemic.
Our friend is currently being drafted to London to support with the overwhelming number of cases, working 21 hour shifts, waiting 13th in line to take a patient into Queens Hospital, and returning home at unsociable hours or sometimes having to sleep in the station before their next shift. As you can imagine, these pressures would challenge even the strongest of individuals resulting in many considering leaving the front line to protect their own mental health and wellbeing.
We ask that you take note of the gravitas of this situation and the importance and responsibility that each and every one of us has in overcoming this pandemic. It is undoubtable, a small, simple gesture of a coffee and cake to go can and will make a huge difference to our Paramedics right now.
Thank you for showing your love and appreciation for our Paramedics through your contribution. Of course, we can dream big and as Sir Tom Moore showed us this year, anything really is possible, but a simple contribution of just £5 will provide a Paramedic out on shift with a hot drink and a sandwich or a well deserved slice of cake.
